Maui is a very romantic place to be whether you just got married, or are just looking to get away with your significant other. Maui has many opportunities to spend time with that special person in your life and there are many romantic things to see on Maui. Though each guest has their own ideas of what a romantic idea is, we wanted to share some great ideas that are offered here on Maui. We would love to help you and your significant other enjoy the island of Maui to the fullest and we hope this information will be helpful to your romantic Maui getaway.
Road to Hana: This scenic drive along Maui’s northern and eastern coastline is certainly a journey that you will not forget. With road side waterfalls and amazing overlooks, it is easy to understand why so many guests enjoy this incredible journey. The Road to Hana is a popular day trip and we do recommend planning on being gone for a majority of the day with your significant other. When guests start to see the road side waterfalls, swim at black sand beaches, and stop at a roadside stop for a plate lunch, it is easy to lose track of time! Guests are more than welcome to use our Road to Hana Guide found on our website. This guide is filled with great tips for the journey and highlights some of our favorite places to stop at.
Day Trip to Lana’i: One our favorite trips on Maui is a relaxing day trip to the neighboring island of Lana’i. This trip is amazing offers so many unique activities throughout the day. Departing from the Lahaina Harbor, this romantic trip will take guests to the island of Lana’i on a beautiful catamaran. On the way, guests will enjoy fresh fruit, deli trays, and beverages. Upon arrival to Manele Bay, it is common for the dolphins to “welcome” you to the island and are frequently playing around just outside of the harbor. Guests will be given a warm greeting by local residents and will have opportunities to snorkel, snuba (a mix between scuba diving and snorkeling), do some lite hiking, take a van tour of Lana’i City (the only city on Lana’i), relax on the beach, and have an awesome BBQ dinner prepared by the captain. Upon return back to Maui, the captain will raise the sail and guests will enjoy a beautiful view of the coastline.
Haleakala Sunrise & Sunset: One of the biggest attractions on Maui is Haleakala. This dormant volcano soars more than 10,000ft above sea level and provides incredible views along the drive. Many guests enjoy driving up to the summit to see the sunrise in the early morning hours. For those guests looking forward to sleeping in a little on vacation, you can also see the sunset from the Haleakala summit as well. At times the temperatures at the summit can be quite chilly and we always recommend to bring warm clothes when visiting the summit. If you have an appetite for adding a little more excitement to your visit to the summit during the morning hours, there are biking tours that will allow you cruise downhill to enjoy the view even more. Though everyone has their own idea of romantic, this is certainly a unique trip to Maui that will certainly create lasting memories for years to come. Don’t miss out on our Guide to Haleakala which has great insider tips on other things to see and do while visiting the Haleakala National Park.
Sunset Sail / Sunset Cruise: What better way to enjoy a Maui sunset than by spending it with your significant other on a sunset sail or sunset cruise. There are many styles of boats that depart from the Ma’alaea Harbor or the Lahaina Harbor and even some great options that will depart right from the beach! Guests will enjoy not only a beautiful view of Maui’s coastline but also have champagne, beer (local and non-local), and wine. In addition fresh fruit, cheese, and other appetizers will also be available for guests to enjoy during their trip. As the captain raises the sail, guests will enjoy a smooth and comfortable sail as they watch the sun sinks into the Hawaiian waters ahead. For those guests looking to do something a little more unique than just standard cocktails and appetizers, many guests enjoy the sunset dinner cruises too. This romantic table for two will certainly create an experience that will last a lifetime! Guests will enjoy appetizers, entrees, dessert, and an open bar on this type of experience.
Scenic Maui Drives: Maui has many scenic drives that provide outstanding views. In addition to the Road to Hana, there are several places on the island to enjoy incredible views from coastal drives to exploring the towns nestled along the slopes of the volcano. For guests looking to explore the upcountry location (along the Haleakala slopes), there are cute towns to visit such as Makawao, Kula, Pukalani, and Ulupalakua. From small mom and pops restaurants to roadside flower stands, this area of the island offers breathtaking views of the central valley and the neighboring islands. If you are looking to explore South Maui, the La Persouse area located just south of Makena is another beautiful coastal drive to explore. This region of the island is home to one of the last lava flows on Maui in which provides incredible scenery to see. For guests wishing to explore West Maui, Honolua Bay is just north of Kapalua, has amazing views of not only the bay, but also the neighboring island of Moloka’i.
Snorkel Trip: Though everyone has their own idea of what romance means, snorkeling is a relaxing yet romantic trip to consider. There are many great options to snorkel while on Maui – from large single hulled boats to sailing catamarans, guests are able to have several options to consider. It is quite common to see a variety of marine life while snorkeling including fish, coral, eels, and even sea turtles! Typically most of the best snorkel trips will leave earlier in the day to avoid the afternoon trade winds, though there are several trips that will depart in the afternoon to take guests to a relaxing snorkel location to enjoy too. Trips are offered with different amenities, though it is quite common to have a delicious lunch and beverages (adult and non-alcoholic) available to guests.
